After the APE (Academic Publishing Europe) conference, Springer released a statement declaring that they are moving towards Gold OA only.

The OA Italy group agree that the change should focus on the mechanisms behind research assessment, which basically legitimize the attitude of some publishers. The recent developments in DORA give hope that something is changing, albeit slowly.

Green OA must be as central as the evaluation of research.

In this respect, the current VQR no longer calls for an Impact Factor (p. 16). The OA Italy group believes that the development of evaluation systems based on OS practices would be fundamental.
