Library of Congress

The Library of Congress is the National Library of the USA. It is considered the largest library of the world and it is the official library of the US Congress. Its collections are composed of more than 167 million articles, more than 39 million catalogued books and other printed materials in 470 languages, and more than 72 million manuscripts. The British Library

The British Library is the UK National Library. As national legal deposit library, the British Library receives copies of all books produced in UK and Ireland, including also a large number of titles published in other countries and distributed in UK. Its collections cover 14 million books as well as a considerable number of manuscripts and historical articles dating back 2000 b.C. In addition to this, the Library acquires around 3 million objects every year.

The National Library of France is one of the most important in Europe and the world. It is the National Germal Library and the largest scientific one in Germany. WorldCat

WorldCat is a collective catalogue of more than 170 libraries from different countries, even though the Anglo-American ones are the most representatives. The project is under the management of the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC), a no-profit cooperative organization of libraries operating from 1967. OCLC provides libraries, cultural organizations and their users with products, services, and informative systems. It is a searching tool not only for bibliographic records, but also for digital documents like photo and multimedia archives. Libraries use OCLC to search for documents, for cataloguing, and for inter library loan, as well as for developing their collections.
