EU Datathon awards innovative projects on the re-use of European Open Data. Teams are evaluated on the creation of Apps, developed by re-using and processing data made available by European institutions or agencies on the European Union Open Data Portal to speed up the re-use of Data and push for its use in different areas.

Funded activities 

The competition aims to reward the most innovative ideas aimed at developing interactive applications and visualizations that offer new services or public information to citizens, PA and businesses, using at least one set of Data made available by EU institutions and agencies and combine it with at least one dataset of the participants in the competition.

Who can participate

EU Datathon is open to anyone (statisticians, economists, researchers, computer programmers, data journalists, graphic designers, IT project managers, university students and

PhD students, etc.) is interested in creating a business model for (social) profit or non-profit through the reuse of Data and/or create prototypes of Open Data products.

Applicants must be from EU or EFTA countries.

Teams of one or more individuals/companies/other legal entities may participate.
