On 26 October 2018 Bjoern Brembs and Jon Tennant filed a "Complaint against Elsevier with the EU Competition Authority for abuse of a dominant position".

Bernard Rentier, on Twitter, called for the news to be circulated because "the voices of all free-flowing science supporters are expressed and massively demonstrate how sick and tired we are".
