The access to the Library is open and free for everyone.

What are the Library opening hours?

The Library is open from Monday to Thursday from 9.30 a.m. until 1.30 p.m. Possible variations and extraordinary closures will be communicated in the website and with announcements in the library.

How to use the Library Services

Users have to register asking for the module at the reference desk. For security reasons, users have to sign in the attendance register when entering and leaving the Library.

How to access internet and Wi-Fi

The Library provides free Wi-Fi and four fixed locations to access the internet network. Users have to log-in using the personal access credentials issued by the library staff after filling-in the authentication form available at the reference desk. Library staff will insert users' data in the database giving access to the service.

Who can consult and borrow the books in the catalogue?

After registering to the Library services, guests may freely consult the bibliographic resources in the consultation room and give back the material to the library staff that will place it back on the shelves. Only internal users (personnel of the CNR-Area, students whose supervisor belongs to CNR staff, PhD students, contract staff and collaborators) and people benefitting of special agreements with CNR have access to the loan service.

How to ask for loan services 

If available in the catalogue, users allowed for borrowing may ask for the resource needed directly at the reference desk. Library staff register the loan, issuing a receipt to be signed by the borrower. 

If the resource is not available in the Library catalogue, users may ask for Inter Library Loan emailing the request to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Library staff will forward it to libraries owning the document. 

What is NILDE and how to use it

NILDE (acronym for Network for Inter-Library Document Exchange) is an online system for document delivery, available to users upon registration. After the validation of the account by the Library, users are enabled to send requests that will be forwarded by the Library staff to partner libraries holding the resource needed.

• Title of the journal
• Title of the article or chapter name, taking into account that the maximum page limit is 15% of the entire resource 
• Name of the author(s) 
• Page numbers
• Publication year
• Volume number
• Issue number

Please note that the Library strongly recommend to forward users' requests for document delivery via NILDE. In the Document Delivery page of this website users will find more details about the registration procedure to the service.
